A veteran is a term that means someone who has served in the UK Armed Forces (whether regular or reserve), but our commitment is inclusive to their widows/widowers and their dependants.  It also is inclusive of members of the Merchant Navy who have played a vital role in legally defined military operations as part of the wider veterans' community.  It is estimated that the wide and desperate veterans' community is a population of 10 million people in the UK.

We can help anyone from Grandparents to Grandchildren of a veteran, if you have spent ONE night in the armed forces, we consider you a veteran. Including dependants there are 103,200 that fall under our armed forces category.

We understand that life outside the armed forces

                                                      is very different
                                                      to life inside the

                                                      armed forces

                                                      and that some

                                                      veterans will

                                                      will need support

                                                      after leaving.

                                                      This is where the

                                                      Wigan Borough

                                                      Veterans Council

                                                      Can assist.
